What a cheesecake made me do

Have you ever booked a flight just to have dinner at a certain restaurant? I did. Looking for cheap flights from Gdansk back to Stuttgart I found quite cheap flights with Ryanair including a stopover in Manchester. A UK lover's dream. Furthermore there is a restaurant in Manchester where I was longing to go back to since I had been there the first time a few years ago – Bakchich.

I ate at Bakchich with my best friend when we visited Liverpool two years ago. Bakchich serves Lebanese food. Rich and special flavours and spices. I never had eaten food like this before. The meats and the hummus were delicious. And at the end we had the best cheesecake on the whole planet. Secretly I only wanted to go back because of the cheesecake. No wonder that I ended up booking Ryanair flights with a long layover plus a night at the Premier Inn Manchester City Centre Piccadilly.

Excited to top off the Poland journey with a flying visit in the UK we went to the airport in Gdansk just to realize that I had made a greenhorn mistake. I had booked the tickets via Flyhacks and printed all the documents they had sent me before we left home. But I forgot the actual tickets which were sent to us a few days before the flight (never ever forget to read the fine print). In the end we had to pay twice as much for the 'quite cheap' tickets just to be allowed to get on the plane. Thank you Flyhacks – thank you Ryanair!

Anyway we made it to Manchester. I am a Premier Inn fan since a nice b&b owner told us once that they always have rooms with accessible bathrooms. It always feels a little bit like coming home and it felt good to be back after this turbulent travel, too.

We spent the afternoon at the People's Museum and the breathtaking John Rylands library (both with free entrance). On our way back to the hotel we stopped at the Manchester Arndale and I finally found a nice jacket as a souvenir...

So how was our Bakchich experience in the evening? The meat mezze as starter was delicous. And the bourkouri halloumi was rich in flavours. We decided to take away the Lebanese cheesecake and I had it on the hotel room combined with a good portion of British trash TV (That is why there is no picture of the mysterious cheesecake.). Was it good? Yes! Do I want to go back there again? Yes! Still some things should be kept in once heart instead of trying to exactly repeat a perfect experience.
