Off to new adventures

Barcelona had been on my bucket list for a while. That is why I was excited to find cheap airfares from Stuttgart at the beginning of the year. My summer was quite troublesome and the week before our Barcelona trip we went to Hamburg to see the Aladdin musical (so good!). So this time there was no perfect travel planning in advance.

My motivation to see Barcelona? 'Vicky Cristina Barcelona'! This movie is one of my favorites and I am fascinated by the relaxing, Mediterranean mood of Barcelona in this movie. I was curious to see whether the city in the movie was the real Barcelona. Apart from that I wanted to see Salou, a smaller city south of Barcelona...

Ambulift

It had been a while since we had an evening departure and I was happy that we didn't have to rush to the airport in the middle of the night. We packed our bags, took the bus and train to the airport and enjoyed the warm October weather on the observation deck before going through security.

Flying over the Alps

With a short delay our plane took off into the evening sun. It was a smooth flight and we soared over the purple clouds. By the time we started our descent it was getting dark. The black Mediterranean Sea layed beneath us and soon we glimpsed the bright lights of El Prat airport.

Due to the delay in Stuttgart we had missed the accessible shuttle bus we had organized last-minute. The bus company Busplana was really nice and they sent another accessible shuttle when we arrived. The coach had a wheelchair lift in the back and the bus driver was really helpful.

Apart from one vacation twenty years ago my family had never been into resort holidays. So resort hotels are unknown territory. We stayed at the H10 Salauris Palace. The room wasn't 100 percent wheelchair accessible but it served its purpose for the first two nights of our trip. Because we arrived late we had a light dinner waiting at our room. Afterwards we went to bed because there were adventures waiting the next day... Continue here.
