Felzl bakery
Marie Antoinette once said 'Let them eat cake!'. So why not have it for breakfast? Luckily I knew a bakery close to the hotel we stayed at. In fact I had been to the Felzl bakery for a business trip a few years ago. For breakfast I chose the healthy option: Carrot cake with just the right sweet and moist texture.

Viennas public transport is relatively cheap. We bought a 48 hours ticket (the carer goes for free) and took the tram to the famous Central Cemetery.

Apart from the actual cemetery you can visit the Funeral Museum. A gothic hidden gem. Do you know how a crematorium works? Or have you ever seen funeral lego figures?
Funeral Museum
After visiting the museum we took a walk. For beautiful graves and vaults go to the Jewish part of the cemetery.

In contrast to that the next sight was much more lively: Schönbrunn Palace.

We didn't spend the whole afternoon there and so we bought the small ticket. With that ticket you can see some of the rooms.
Schönbrunn Palace Gardens
The gardens are free to visit and beautiful. But be prepared for some gravel action. Now and then I needed some extra help pushing the wheelchair.

In Vienna you should not miss an overprized visit to a classic cafehaus. We had delicious coffee and cake at Café Landtmann on our way from Schönbrunn Palace back to the city.

Next we took a tram to the Danube, strolled along the river's shore, full of small beach bars and deckchairs.

Incidently we saw a sign leading to the Hundertwasserhaus. Why not take a detour? This colourful house is one of the famous architect's masterpieces.

After all this walking and rolling we were longing for some proper food. Craving for food in Vienna? Go to the Naschmarkt. The market stalls are only open during the day, but the restaurants there are open in the evening, too. Our choice was Neni. Here you can taste Israeli soulfood.

Originally we wanted to visit the Prater, Viennas amusement park, afterwards. But we decided to go there the next they as we realized that it was too late to see the sunset from the ferris wheel. So we went back to the hotel with the metro.

Not without some dessert of course. A Vienna classic is the iced apricot dumpling at the authentic 50s ice cream salon. Continue here.
