The weather forecast didn't look too promising so we decided to visit a museum. To learn about Hungarian history and culture the Hungarian National Museum is a perfect place. Again we didn't have to pay an entrance fee. It is an older and smaller museum but it houses a pretty big exhibition with interesting exhibits.

No city trip without rollercoaster. Budapest's amusement park 'Vidám Park' closed in 2015 but that doesn't mean you can't go searching traces of amusement rides or rollercoasters inside the big City Park. Although we could only track the old wooden rollercoaster from a distance the walk through the large park was nice. Oh, and they have Chimney Cake there...

Afterwards we went back to the city center to visit St. Stephen's Basilica. Only the nave is accessible via lift. To reconcile with the river cruise we decided to use our 24 hour ticket to go on another round trip at sunset. With an extraordinarily tasty diner at the cute Kispiac Bisztró we said farewell to an extraordinarily beautiful city.

You just have to love Budapest. Old and rundown and hip and simply grand around the next corner.

Gorgeous architecture and avenues everywhere. And Budapest is so hospitable. But is ist for wheelchair users?
Yes and no. Parts of the city are perfectly accessible while other parts are only accessible via steps. Even surfaces right next to uneven cobblestone and high bumpy curbs.

But doable with a little help of a travel companion. Not to forget that the city center is undergoing some big renovation. I will definitely keep an eye on this insider tip destination.
