Did you know that Empress Elisabeth of Austria loved travelling to Budapest? Did you know, that she was quite sporty? She loved working out most of the day. And when she went for a walk her abigails had to be replaced during the walk beacause they couldn't keep up with the empress. Sisi loved slogs. We didn't know that such a slog was in store for us when we left the hotel for the Hungarian Parliament Building the next morning.

The next morning we continued our journey. We had a quick breakfast ('Buchteln', sweet rolls filled with plum jam) at main station and hopped on the Railjet Xpress.

Back in 2011 my best friend and me decided to take our friendship to the next level and travelled Cornwall by car. Luckily we got along well and it was an epic road trip full of beautiful landscape, scones and tea and cozy B&Bs. In remembrance of our first trip a tradition was established: If possible we try to travel to the UK once a year.

Tokyo wouldn't be Tokyo without its temples. Those religious places have a spiritual feel for sure with the massive wodden gates at the entrance and the beautifully coloured shrines. Yet there is always some hustle and bustle, vendors and sometimes visiting a temple feels like going to the fair.

Planning our Japan adventure we knew that we wanted to put the focus on Tokyo. Nevertheless we wanted to catch a glimpse of the country. So we decided to do a three days trip to Kyoto and – mainly because of the Universal Studios – to Osaka.

The moment when you wake up, well rested, ready for the day...and it is one o'clock in the morning! I have to admit this was the worst jetlag I've had so far. My friend couldn't care less and was happily asleep. That is why I started my first day in Japan a little bit sleepy. I thought about heading to the famous Tsukiji Fish market early in the morning. Google told me that is was Foundation Day, a national holiday, though. So the market was closed. Our first destination of the day was the...

Sometimes you need to spoil yourself. I like the thought of working hard and earning something as a reward. That is why I decided to book business class flights after we had made the plan to visit Japan. For me a business class flight is more than nice food and feeling glamorous, though. Growing older as a mobility-impaired person I learn to treasure moments where I am not limited during travellling. Nine hours on a plane without being able to really move or change your sitting position wasn't...

As a gift for my confirmation my parents took me to London back in 2002. That was when I fell in love with the world city that still is so British! I have been to London by plane and by car but this time we wanted to go there differently – by train. Our journey started on an early sunday morning in the heart of Stuttgart. We took the Intercity Express to Mannheim, swapped trains and were off. Next stop Paris. As the wide fields of the Champagne flew by we had coffee and croissants and after...

After three exciting days in Warsaw we were looking forward to a little bit of calmness in Gdansk and that is exactly what we got there. It had stopped raining but the streets were still empty. Gdansk is much smaller than Warsaw and has a lot of uneven sidewalks with cobblestones and potholes. Challenging but still manageable with the wheelchair and charming for sure!

We just had to cross the street to get to one of my Warsaw highlights: The Palace of Culture and Science. This high-rise building was built in the 1950's in the style of Stalinist architecture. It is huge and massive and grey. You definitely can't ignore it.
