The Motel One Barcelona-Ciutadella was perfect for our short city trip. Our accessible room was spacious with a modern and fresh furnishing. The bathroom had plenty of room to manoeuver with a wheelchair including a wheel-in shower. Only the location of the room wasn't ideal. Located close to the lift it was noisy during the night and in the morning. Who needs sleep anyway?

We started our last day in Barcelona with a stroll to the Sagrada Familia. We were able to catch a glimpse of this extraordinary building from the bus the day before but standing in front of it still was breathtaking! Gaudi's temple is massive yet filigree and definitely a must see in Barcelona.

Thanks to my wheelchair we got in for free. Plus we didn't have to wait in line. Nevertheless I suggest coming as early as possible to avoid the masses. Inside we found a forest of stone trees flooded in coloured light.

Up next a bus of the blue hop-on-hop-off tour brought us to Park Güell. From the bus stop it's quite a walk walk up the hill to the entrance of the park. I guess if you spare some money the easiest way to get there is by taxi (or by carer ;) ).

Maybe it was the fact that the weather was changing and that it began to rain, maybe it was the closure of the Nature Square that was under restoration during our visit or maybe it were all the tourists but our Parc Güell experience was just averagish. A big plus was that we didn't have to wait for a given time slot but were able to get in the Parc right away.

It started raining cats and dogs and we decided to leave. Our next destination was the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau. This impressive historic building complex isn't a functioning hospital anymore but was turned into a museum and cultural center after 2009. It is Europe's largest Art Nouveau and therefore a Unesco World Heritage Site. If you are into architecture this is a must see in Barcelona. The property is (apart from some old tunnels) wheelchair accessible. Just make sure you visit the property when it doesn't rain (a lot) because half of the audio tour is outside.

Afterwards we had warm cinnamon rolls at Demasié as a midday snack! I have to admit we were in a lazy mood while in Barcelona so we spent the rest of the day cruising the city with the hop-on-hop-off bus.

We went back to the hotel to refresh ourselves... and to have a drink the hotels own rooftop terrace. For dinner we wanted to taste more Spanish food and decided to go to a Tapas bar in the Barri Gotic. With 'La Bona Sort' we found a cozy one.

The next morning we left to the airport by the accessible metro. Two days in Barcelona definitely were way to short to really see this beautiful city. We will be back for more Spanish serenity in the future!
