Back in 2011 my best friend and me decided to take our friendship to the next level and travelled Cornwall by car. Luckily we got along well and it was an epic road trip full of beautiful landscape, scones and tea and cozy B&Bs. In remembrance of our first trip a tradition was established: If possible we try to travel to the UK once a year.
There are lots of reasons that justify that. A lack of British food. The need to ride great roller coasters. Or the reunion of the 90s pop girl group! When the news came out that the Spice Girls would tour the UK in 2019 there was no doubt that we would be there! What a splendid reason to revisit Manchester (...and hopefully eat a Lebanese cheese cake!).
TGV boarding / TGV speedomter
Needless to say, that we took the train via Paris. With a five hour layover, of course, so that we were able to do some Paris sightseeing, too. This time we took a walk to the Atelier des Lumières.
Atelier des Lumières Van Gogh
This former foundry in the eleventh arrondissement holds monumental immersive exhibitions.
Atelier des Lumières Starry Night
We went there to see 'Van Gogh, Starry Night' but were also impressed of 'Dreamed Japan'. The Atelier des Lumières offers reduced rates for disabled visitors, the venue is fully accessible.

I didn't take a lot of pictures of our train ride to London.

In case you are interesed in a report about the Eurostar and its accessibility, you are welcome to read my blog about our London trip in 2018.
Eurostar Business Premier light meal
Nevertheless I have to say that the Eurostar turned out to be a comfortable and fast way to get to the island.
St. Pancras station
In St. Pancras we rented a car to drive to the North. We escaped the London rush hour with 'The Streets' on the radio. Is there something more Londonish?

Our destination for the day was Witney, a small town close to Oxford.
Eynsham Hall driveway
There we spent the night at Eynsham Hall, a venerable country house where rabbits and squirrels scamper through the grass.
Eynsham Hall
Driving past the gates of the estate and through lush green gardens to get to the hall felt truly royal.
Eynsham Hall impressions
Sadly, the accessible room was located in the guest house, not in noble main building.

We ended our day at the Lamb Inn, a rural pub nearby. Pub food tastes even better next to a cracking fire place! Continue here.
